Comparison between proximal thoracic vascular measurements obtained by contrast enhanced MRA and transthoracic echocardiography in infants with congenital heart disease

چکیده
Background Accurate assessment of the proximal thoracic vasculature in infants with congenital heart disease (CHD) is vital in deciding the appropriate surgical or interventional procedure and predicting outcomes. In most infants this information is obtained by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). When the image quality is limited by TTE, Contrast Enhanced MRA (CE-MRA) is frequently utilized. Calculating Z-scores for measurements obtained by CE-MRA in this population is currently not possible due to the lack of normative data. Demonstrating reasonable agreement between vessel dimensions by CE-MRA and TTE will allow the use of TTE based Zscores on measurements from CE-MRA. This study examines the accuracy and agreement of proximal thoracic vascular measurements obtained by CE-MRA compared to TTE.

Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum Presenting as Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease A Rare Case Report
Cor triatriatum is an acyanotic congenital heart disease. We present a rare case of cor triatriatum sinistrum in a 6-month-old female infant who was presented with cyanosis and failure to thrive. The 2D transthoracic echocardiography and the Doppler color flow imaging showed a proximal venous chamber communicating to the distal left atrium through restrictive opening to the low-pressure, dis...

Introduction: The lack of adequate blood perfusion through different organs of the body, including the brain and skull, can be caused by any type of circulation abnormality. The purpose of this study is to compare cephalometric indices between infants under the age of 12 months who have congenital heart disease (CHD) and normal infants. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was ca...

Background: Intrapulmonary vascular abnormalities associated with liver cirrhosis may result in intrapulmonary right-to-left shunt and hypoxemia. The aim of this study was to use contrast enhanced echocardiography to detect intrapulmonary vascular abnormalities in patients with liver cirrhosis candidates for liver transplantation. Methods: One hundred and two adult patients underwent contrast e...
متن کاملDiffuse Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation in Children: Essential Value of Contrast Echocardiography in Diagnosis
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) are abnormal communications between pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins, and most commonly congenital in nature. Although rare, it is an important consideration in cyanotic patients of unknown cause. We report 3 cases with diffuse PAVM in children with different clinical manifestations and initial diagnosis was made by transthoracic contrast echoc...
